Attic insulation in Lubbock TX - sealed tight, then covered evenly to the edges

Hot upstairs, drafty rooms and a power bill that keeps climbing? We seal the leaks first, then blow in an even layer over the whole attic.

An open attic ladder reveals a reflective insulated cover fitted inside the attic hatch.

What does a good attic insulation job in Lubbock include?

Attic insulation in Lubbock means sealing the gaps between your attic and the rooms below, then adding an even layer of insulation across the attic floor, so your house holds its temperature and costs less to heat and cool.

Most of the calls I get start with an upstairs that won't cool down, a room over the garage that never feels right, or a power bill that keeps creeping up. When I get up in those attics, I usually find a thin, settled layer, or decent insulation with air slipping past it through gaps around the lights, pipes and hatch, because most insulation slows heat but doesn't stop air.

The price mostly comes down to how big the attic is, how many inches are already up there, whether old material is wet or dirty enough to come out, and how much sealing the gaps take. Foam sprayed under the roof costs more and seals air as it insulates, but for most houses I'd rather seal the gaps and top up with loose fill, unless your ducts and AC equipment live in the attic, when foam at the roof deck earns a closer look. The schedule usually turns on any repairs that have to come first, and you'll get your own figure in the written estimate after I've been up there.

What happens after you call about your attic

You deal with me from the first look to the final check, and with our own crew in between.

I come out and look at your attic myself

After you call or send a message, I climb up, check how many inches are already there and talk through what I find, from gaps and roof stains to fans that empty into the attic. Then I send you a written estimate, and I'm happy to answer the same question twice if that's what it takes.

Our own crew does the work

The people in your attic are our own crew, not strangers hired for the day. We're licensed and insured. I opened this business in 2021, after learning the trade hauling hose and bags as a helper around Lubbock.

We walk the finished attic together

When the crew is done, I show you what we sealed and how evenly the layer runs out to the edges, so you know exactly what you paid for. Every job carries our promise, satisfaction guaranteed on every job.

How we handle attic insulation, from the repairs up

Before we add anything, I check the roof, the wiring and where your bathroom, kitchen and dryer fans vent, and we plan any repairs first, because new insulation over a problem just hides it. If the old material is soaked or full of droppings, it comes out instead of getting buried. Then our crew does the air sealing, closing the gaps around can lights, pipes, wires and the hatch, so the insulation isn't fighting a draft. We keep the eave vents clear so the attic can still breathe, and we blow in an even layer, loose fill sent through a hose, carried all the way to the edges where most attics run thin.

If you want to know more about the material itself, our blown-in insulation page covers the fiberglass and cellulose options. And when the attic is only part of the story, with cold floors or a drafty room over the garage, we look at the rest of the house through our home insulation work.

  • A check of the roof, wiring and fan vents before any insulation goes in
  • Removal of old insulation that's wet or full of droppings when we find it
  • Air sealing around lights, pipes, wires and the attic hatch
  • Eave vents kept clear so the attic keeps breathing
  • An even blown-in layer, as deep at the edges as in the middle

What the day of your attic job looks like

Once the groundwork is done, the job itself is pretty simple. Here's what we need from you and what goes on around the house.

  1. Handle the repairs first

If I found something that has to be fixed before insulation goes in, that gets taken care of before our crew shows up. I'll tell you plainly when a repair is outside what we do, so you can line up a roofer or an electrician.

  2. Clear a path to the hatch

On the day, we need an open way to the attic opening and room to run the hose in from the truck. We lay drop cloths under the hatch so the dust stays up top instead of on your floor.

  3. Stay home while we work

With a blown-in job you usually don't need to leave, though we'll ask you to keep kids and pets away from the hatch and the hose. Spray foam is a different story, and if that's the plan I'll tell you ahead of time when it's safe to come back inside.

  4. Check the depth markers

We fasten depth markers to the framing in a few spots before we blow in the fill. That way you, or anyone who buys the house later, can see how deep the layer is without digging through it.

Get a written attic insulation estimate after I've seen your attic

I'll come out, look at the attic with you and send a written estimate, free and with no pressure to book. It helps if the hatch is easy to reach and you can tell me about any roof leaks, any ducts up there and where your bathroom fans vent.

Questions Lubbock homeowners ask about attic insulation

How much does attic insulation cost in Lubbock?

Blown-in attic insulation usually costs about $4 to $7.50 per square foot across the US, and that's a national figure for the market, not our price. Your own number comes in the written estimate after I've been up there, since sealing, cleanup and repairs all change it.

Is blown-in insulation better than batts for an attic?

For most attics, yes, because blown loose fill, whether fiberglass, rock wool or cellulose, usually costs less to put in than batts and covers better. Installation costs still vary from one attic to the next, so I'll tell you what fits yours once I've seen it.

What needs to be fixed before insulating an attic?

A leaking roof, old knob-and-tube wiring that's still live, and any bathroom, kitchen or dryer fan that empties into the attic instead of outdoors all need fixing first. Those repairs head off moisture problems and fire risk, so it pays to plan and budget for them before the insulation goes in.

Can attic insulation be done any time of year in Lubbock?

Yes, most attic insulation jobs can be done any time, so you can book the work when it suits your plans. What usually sets the date is whether any repairs have to happen first.

Permits and contractor rules in Lubbock

The City of Lubbock requires a permit before building, electrical, mechanical or plumbing work its code regulates, and its remodeling list names duct work but not attic insulation, so I check rather than guess. When a job needs a permit, we get it from the city and take care of the paperwork, and when we aren't sure, we call the building office and ask before we start. You can ask the city's building inspections office yourself at 806-775-2087 or 806-775-3155.

The city also has building and general contractors register and show liability insurance or post a compliance bond, so it's fair to ask anyone bidding on your attic about that. Lubbock has adopted an energy code too, and you can ask any installer, us included, how your job meets it. We're based in Lubbock and do the same attic work in the cities around it, including Wolfforth, Slaton, Levelland, Plainview, Littlefield and Brownfield.
